Junkanoo Jam is an excellent introduction to Bahamian culture while teaching basic syncopated rhythm patterns in a repetitive and reinforced manner. It is an ideal piece to feature your percussion section, with built-in breaks while wind players rest their developing embouchures. Students will love the infectious groove, the prominent use of a whistle, and the opportunity to “grunt” a few times!
